Nicole Legare, MD, a board-eligible ophthalmologist, attended Florida State University in Tallahassee graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Psychology. She then received her medical degree from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Legare was the president of the Gold Humanism Honor Society during medical school, where she was selected and voted by her peers based on her compassion, empathy, and care for patients and colleagues.
Following a medical/surgical internship in Orlando, she moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where she subsequently completed her residency training in ophthalmology with the Louisiana State University program. During her residency training, she served as Chief Resident during her final year.
Dr. Legare is passionate about providing compassionate and high quality care to her patients. She practices as a comprehensive ophthalmologist treating a wide range of eye diseases and conditions including cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye syndrome, and glaucoma testing and management. She is a highly skilled surgeon who performs cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), pterygium surgery, in addition to many more procedures and surgeries.
Dr. Legare enjoys time outside of work with her husband, who is also a surgeon, and their three year old son. She is thrilled to now be in Charleston with her family. Charleston is near and dear to their hearts as it is where her husband attended the College of Charleston and where her father in law grew up. She cannot wait to experience all it has to offer and to serve the patients in her new community.
